Plan · the neighbourhood
Broadbeach, around the resort
A beach suburb of under seven thousand residents with a convention centre, two shopping centres and a tram line. Everything below is walkable or one tram stop away.

The beach
The resort puts the beach about 300 metres from its doors. Broadbeach faces the Coral Sea, between Surfers Paradise to the north and Mermaid Beach to the south (Wikipedia, secondary). We do not quote swimming conditions or patrol times because they change daily; swim between the flags and check the local surf life saving service on the day.
What is within walking distance
- Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre About ten minutes on foot over a footbridge from the resort; Broadbeach North tram stop is across the road from it.
- Pacific Fair A shopping centre across from Broadbeach South tram stop, which the resort describes as walking distance from the Residences.
- Oracle Boulevard Named by the resort's leasing page for its dining precinct, also walking distance.
- The Oasis The other shopping centre nearby, with paid parking.
- The Promenade at The Star New retail space along the Residences towers; the resort was advertising tenancies from mid-2026, so expect some empty shopfronts for now.
A little history
For thousands of years before colonisation the Broadbeach area was home to the Kombumerri clan of the Yugambeh people. In 1965 building works uncovered a burial ground used from around 1,300 years ago until the 1800s; the remains were repatriated in 1988 and reburied at Kombumerri Park, and the case helped shape Queensland's first cultural heritage law (Wikipedia, secondary). The suburb's modern story starts with Lennons Broadbeach Hotel, described as the first large hotel on the Gold Coast; its terrazzo seal sculpture now stands at the Convention Centre.
The casino-resort came later: it opened as Conrad Jupiters in November 1985, the state's first casino, and became The Star in 2017. We tell that story in From Jupiters to The Star.

- Theme parks and tours The resort's concierge books tours and theme-park tickets; its online partner is a separate company.
