Pools, spa and gyms

Four pools, one day spa and three gyms — and a set of access rules that depends on which hotel your key card belongs to.

The pools

  1. Isoletto Pool Club, Level 6 For guests of all The Star's resort accommodation. A pool with a 12-metre viewing wall over Broadbeach, cabanas around the deck and 'wet lounges' built into the pool. Light food and drinks from 11am to 4pm daily, weather dependent.
  2. The Star Grand pool, Pool Level Outdoor, with two spa tubs, cabanas you can book and a pool bar, open 6am to 9pm and exclusive to hotel guests across the resort's accommodation.
  3. The Darling pool Open 6am to 6pm for Darling guests only. Guests in the Residences' Ocean Sky Villa are also given access for their stay.
  4. Residences tower pools Each residential tower has its own pool for its guests, alongside a gym, wellness spaces and outdoor cooking areas.

One caveat: the resort describes access to its facilities as subject to availability and operational requirements, so a pool can close for an event or maintenance.

Azure Spa & Fitness

Azure is the day spa inside The Star Grand. It uses BABOR professional skincare and Retreatment Botanics, a range created in the Byron Bay hinterland. The spa has six treatment rooms, including one for two people, and an outdoor cabana that can be hired. Opening hours are 10am to 6pm Monday to Friday, 10am to 7pm on Saturday and 10am to 5pm on Sunday; it is closed on Christmas Day and hours can change on public holidays. Bookings are by phone on 07 5592 8501 or by email.

For couples, the dual treatment room is the thing to ask about early. On a weekend it is the first slot to go in any spa with only one such room, and Azure's hours mean the last treatments finish in the early evening.

A pool day that works

If you are at The Star Grand or Dorsett: breakfast, then the Star Grand pool before the day warms up, the beach late morning, and Isoletto from its 11am opening for a spritz and a light lunch until 4pm. If you are in The Darling, swap the morning for your own pool — it closes at 6pm, so it is a daytime pleasure only.
