Is The Star Gold Coast one hotel or several?
Several. The resort has four places to stay: The Star Grand (592 rooms), The Darling (56 suites), The Star Residences (apartments in Towers 1 and 2) and Dorsett Gold Coast (313 rooms). They share the casino, restaurants and theatre but have their own pools, gyms and rules.
What are check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is 3pm and check-out 11am at The Star Grand, The Darling and Dorsett. Express check-out is available on request.
How far is the beach?
The resort says the beach is about 300 metres away.
How do I get there from Gold Coast Airport?
By car or taxi it is about half an hour, according to the resort. By public transport, take the Route 777 bus to Burleigh Heads and the G:link tram north to Broadbeach North. Our how to get there page has Google Maps route links for each option.
Is there parking, and is it included?
There is a car park, but spaces are limited, not guaranteed with a room and often full on Friday and Saturday evenings. Star Grand and Residences guests pay a flat nightly rate; The Darling gives one space per suite; Dorsett has no car park of its own. Nothing over 1.95 m fits.
Can children stay?
Yes. Cots are free in the hotels, rollaways cost extra at The Star Grand and The Darling (one per room) and are not offered at Dorsett. The casino and several bars are strictly 18+.
What is the minimum age for the casino?
18. Under Queensland law under-18s may not be in the casino's licensed area, and photo ID such as a driver licence or passport is required.
Which pool can I use?
Every resort hotel guest can use the Isoletto Pool Club on Level 6 and The Star Grand pool. The Darling pool is for Darling guests only (plus Ocean Sky Villa guests in the Residences).
Is there a spa?
Yes — Azure Spa & Fitness in The Star Grand, open 10am–6pm on weekdays, to 7pm on Saturday and to 5pm on Sunday, with a treatment room for two.
Where is good for dinner?
Kiyomi (Japanese), Nineteen at The Star (rooftop), Cucina Vivo (Italian) and Uncle Su (Cantonese) are the sit-down choices; check their opening days before you plan, as not all open every night.
Does this site take bookings or payments?
No. You send a room request; our desk checks availability and the rate with the hotel or a booking partner and replies by email. We never ask for card details here.
Is this the hotel's official website?
No. Broadbeach Island Weekender is independent. The official site is star.com.au/goldcoast.
How do you make money?
When a request sent through this site becomes a confirmed stay, the hotel or the booking partner pays us a commission. Asking costs you nothing.
Is the casino licence affected by the Special Manager?
As of the Queensland Government's statement of 24 September 2026, a 90-day licence suspension has been deferred to 31 March 2027 and the Special Manager remains in place to that date. The resort operates normally; see our journal note for details.
