The Event Centre Ballroom can be split into seven separate areas and comes with seven breakout rooms and a secretariat office — the setup for a conference with parallel sessions. For Christmas parties the resort says its venues cater for groups from 12 up to 1,800.
Smaller celebrations
For an engagement dinner or a hens' night the resort lists 22 venues on its special-occasions page, including the Cucina Vivo balcony and private dining room, the Garden Kitchen & Bar private room behind a sheer white curtain, the Harvest Buffet private dining room, Cherry Bar booths for ten, and Atrium Bar booths sold as pre-paid packages. Kiyomi's private room seats 10 to 16 and Uncle Su's three rooms take up to 36.
Weddings
Isoletto Privé is the space the resort names for weddings, with indoor and outdoor areas next to the pool club and up to 200 guests seated. Level 18 at The Darling, with a balcony that wraps around the building, suits a smaller reception or the pre-dinner drinks. The resort's event form asks for arrival and departure dates and which hotels you want for accommodation — The Star Grand, The Residences or The Darling — so rooms and venue are handled together.
Room blocks: what to settle early
- Which hotel for whom Families in the Residences, the couple in The Darling, everyone else in The Star Grand: one booking can mix buildings, and the facilities differ by building.
- Parking The car park is shared and limited. For a wedding on a Saturday evening, assume guests will not all find a space and plan shuttles or the tram.
- Extra beds Rollaways are one per room at The Star Grand and The Darling, and not offered at Dorsett.
- Packages For corporate bookings, the resort advertised an offer for events booked at the Event Centre with an accommodation block and held before 30 June 2027; terms apply.
Our desk can request a block of rooms for a wedding party or a team weekend. Put the number of rooms, the nights and the occasion in the wishes box; we will come back with what the hotel can hold. Venue hire itself is contracted directly with the resort's events team ([email protected], 07 5592 8269).
Next door: the Convention Centre
The Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre on the Gold Coast Highway is about a ten-minute walk over a footbridge, according to the resort, and is managed by The Star on behalf of the Queensland Government. For delegates at a big conference there, a room at the resort means no taxis at all.
