Facts for guests · no gambling here
The casino, described plainly
You will walk past it whether you go in or not. Here is what a hotel guest should know — opening hours, age and ID rules, dress code — and nothing else.
This site does not offer, promote or link to gambling. Australia's Interactive Gambling Act 2001 restricts online casino services; The Star Gold Coast is a physical venue, and this page only describes it so that guests know the rules. If gambling is causing you harm, call Gambling Help Queensland on 1800 858 858, free and confidential, 24 hours a day.
What is there
The resort describes its casino floor as open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with more than 70 table games and more than 1,400 machines. It was Queensland's first casino when the complex opened in November 1985 as Conrad Jupiters (Wikipedia, secondary). It is regulated by Queensland's Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation under the Casino Control Act 1982; the licence holder named by the regulator is The Star Entertainment QLD Limited.
When it closes
- Good Friday Closes at 3am and reopens at midnight. Alcohol that day is sold only with a meal, in dining areas, from 10am to midnight.
- ANZAC Day Closes at 3am and reopens at 1pm; the same meal-only rule for alcohol applies between 10am and 1pm.
- Christmas Day Closes at 3am and reopens at midnight.
Who may enter
Entry is for people aged 18 and over. Under Queensland law it is an offence for a person under 18, or an excluded person, to be in any part of the casino's licensed area during opening hours. Acceptable ID must be current and carry a photo and date of birth: an adult proof-of-age card or recognised proof-of-age card, an Australian or foreign driver licence, or an Australian or foreign passport. The operator may refuse entry at its discretion.
Dress and bags
The minimum standard is smart casual clothing and footwear. On the gaming floor the resort lists items that are not allowed, including headwear of any kind, camouflage clothing, work boots, rubber thongs after 6pm, swimwear, visible face or head tattoos, disguises, backpacks and luggage, and bags larger than A3. Permitted bags are inspected on entry. Sleeveless tops are allowed if the overall appearance is judged suitable.
Cameras and privacy
The resort states that people in the casino may be filmed, photographed or recorded, including with facial recognition technology, and that footage may be shared with law enforcement, casino authorities or other casinos. Entering the casino counts as consent to that, in the resort's terms.
Help and tools
Player Activity Statements are available on request from the Guest Service Desk, and the resort publishes a Safer Gambling Policy. In Queensland you can exclude yourself from a casino by completing a self-exclusion notice at the venue; our responsible gambling page explains the steps and the free support available.
Planning a stay around it — or away from it
If you would rather not walk through the gaming floor, ask for The Darling, which has its own entrance and its own lift to Nineteen, or pick restaurants on the Lobby Level and Ground level — Kiyomi, Cucina Vivo, Uncle Su, Mei Wei Dumplings and M&G. Garden Kitchen & Bar, Food Quarter, Cherry Bar and the Sports Bar are on the casino level.
