Shows and events, with dates

The Star Theatre takes up to 2,150 people, and the walk from your room to your seat never leaves the building. Here is what the venue lists for the coming months.

The Star Theatre

The theatre is on the Casino Level and has a mechanical thrust stage that can be resized, so the room can be set up for anything from a seated tribute show to a standing gig, with up to 2,150 people seated and standing. It also has its own projection booth for film nights. Tickets are sold through Ticketek, and the box office answers by email. There is lift access on the Stalls level. According to Wikipedia (secondary), the theatre reopened in June 2012 after a $20 million refit that added a balcony level.

Big days on the calendar

  1. Tuesday 3 November 2026 · Melbourne Cup Lunch packages in several restaurants, Fashions off the Field, and The Potbelleez playing free on The Lawn from 4:15pm to 5:30pm. No line dancing or trivia that night.
  2. Friday 13 November 2026 · Ultimate Sports Lunch A ticketed lunch at the Sports Bar with former players and comedian Jimeoin, hosted by James Bracey.
  3. Saturday 5 December 2026 · Not So Silent Night Christmas Ball In the Event Centre Ballroom, 6pm to 11:30pm: three-course dinner, a 4.5-hour drinks package and live entertainment.
  4. Thursday 31 December 2026 · New Year's Eve A country hoedown on The Lawn from 5pm, free entry, family friendly until 9pm, with fireworks at 9pm and at midnight from three spots across the property.

The line dancing session runs in three parts: social dancing for regulars from 6pm, a beginner-friendly session from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, and social dancing again until 9pm. There is none on Melbourne Cup day or on Boxing Day.

Making a night of it

For a show night, check in from 3pm, eat early — Mei Wei Dumplings opens for dinner at 5pm and Kiyomi and Cucina Vivo at 5:30pm — and walk to the theatre for doors. Afterwards, Food Quarter serves until 2am for over-18s, and in-room dining runs to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Our desk can ask for a late check-out on the morning after; the hotel decides.
