Dorsett Gold Coast: the compact option

The newest hotel in the precinct: 313 rooms, balconies from Deluxe upwards and an Executive Lounge on Level 19. No car park of its own — plan for that.

Dorsett Gold Coast sits inside The Star Gold Coast precinct and is sold through the resort's own booking engine alongside the other three hotels. It has 313 rooms with king or twin beds, flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi, and views of the coastline or the hinterland. The resort describes it as 30 minutes from Gold Coast Airport. Its café-bar is Jin Café & Bar; its guests use the Isoletto Pool Club on the Leisure Deck.

Ten room types in three tiers

  1. Standard: King and King Panoramic Average 25 square metres. A 50-inch Samsung TV, Google Chromecast, Elemis bathroom products, tea and coffee, an in-room safe and access to the Isoletto Pool Club. The Panoramic version adds wide city views. No balcony.
  2. Deluxe: King, Twin, King Panoramic, Twin Panoramic Private balconies looking to the shoreline, the hinterland or — in the Panoramic rooms — the skyline. The Deluxe Twin is the only room in the building for two people who want separate beds without paying for Executive.
  3. Executive: King, Twin, King Panoramic, Twin Panoramic On the highest floors with balconies, an average of 28 square metres, and 24-hour access to the Executive Lounge on Level 19: daily buffet breakfast, refreshments through the day, sunset drinks and canapés.

The parking question

Dorsett has no parking. Its guests may use The Star Gold Coast car park at a discounted daily rate that is only for Dorsett guests, and the most convenient levels are 3, 3M and 4. The usual caveats apply: no vehicles over 1.95 m, availability not guaranteed, and the car park is often full on Friday and Saturday evenings. The hotel suggests paid parking at the Convention and Exhibition Centre or Oasis Shopping Centre as alternatives, and you may drop luggage at reception before parking elsewhere.

Beds and children

Infant cots are free but must be requested at the time of booking. Rollaway beds and sofa beds are not available at Dorsett at all — a real limit for families of four, who are better served by a Residences apartment or a Star Grand room with a rollaway.

Getting there without a car

The hotel's own advice is the G:link light rail: trips every 7.5 minutes on weekdays and every 10 minutes at weekends between 7am and 7pm. The nearest stop is Broadbeach North, across from the Convention and Exhibition Centre; Broadbeach South, across from Pacific Fair, also works. Our getting there page covers the airport bus link.

Ask about a Dorsett room

Three short steps: dates, the room you have in mind, where to reply. Our desk takes it from there.

How it works: the request goes to this site's booking desk, not to the hotel. We check availability and the current rate with the hotel's reservations team or a booking partner and answer by email. We never ask for card details here, and a request is not a booking.

If your request turns into a confirmed stay, the hotel or the booking partner that completes it pays us a commission. You pay nothing extra for asking. How we earn.

Received. Our desk now checks the dates with the hotel's reservations team or a booking partner and replies by email, usually within one business day. Nothing is booked or charged until you say yes to an offer.
