Rooms · The Star Grand

The Star Grand: the main hotel

The biggest of the four hotels and the one most people mean when they say they stayed at The Star. Seven room types, a guests-only pool, and the casino and theatre a corridor away.

The Star Grand has 592 rooms and describes itself as five-star and freshly renovated. Its rooms look either to the coast or to the hinterland — the green ridge of hills inland of the Gold Coast — and the resort's casino and Event Centre are, as the hotel page puts it, within arm's reach. The page does not publish room sizes, so we do not guess them.

The seven room types

  1. Superior Deluxe Room The entry room. The hotel stresses the technology: lighting and settings can be adjusted at the push of a button. No balcony is promised.
  2. Corner Balcony Deluxe Room The same idea with a private balcony on every room in this category. For a couple who want to sit outside with a drink at sunset, this is the one we would ask for first.
  3. Executive Deluxe Room On Levels 18 and above, recently refurbished, with push-button lights, temperature and blinds, and views across the Gold Coast. Height buys you a calmer outlook.
  4. Club Suite Open plan, with a bar and a private balcony. The step up when you want room to move.
  5. Pacific View Suite Open plan with views over the coastline — the hotel's own description leans hard on the window.
  6. King Terrace Suite On the top three floors, with a private terrace and blinds, lights and temperature controlled by button.
  7. Ocean Terrace Suite The top of the range: a private bar, a sunny terrace of its own and refurbished controls for lighting and temperature.

Eating in the room

In-room dining is ordered by scanning a QR code in the room. Breakfast runs from 6am to 11am every day; lunch and dinner from 11am to 11pm Sunday to Thursday and until midnight on Friday and Saturday. There is a children's menu. After those hours the hotel points you to Food Quarter on the main gaming floor, which serves until 2am and then toasties until 5:30am — but Food Quarter is inside the casino, so it is 18+ only.

Shopping and the concierge

The Shop @ The Star, on the lobby level, sells luxury brands and the resort's own bedding range — pillows, duvets, toppers and bathrobes. It is closed Monday to Thursday and opens 12pm to 8:30pm on Friday and Saturday and 10am to 6:30pm on Sunday. The concierge can book tours and theme parks; the hotel's online link for that goes to a separate company, Experience Oz, which the resort notes is not related to it.

Who should pick The Star Grand

Couples on a first visit, concert-goers, and anyone who wants the full resort on their doorstep without paying for a suite. If you need guaranteed parking, or a pool that is quiet in the late afternoon, look at The Darling instead. If you need a kitchen, the Residences.

Room request desk · The Star Gold Coast

Ask our desk for a room on Broadbeach Island

Three short steps: dates, the room you have in mind, where to reply. Our desk takes it from there.

  1. 1 · Dates
  2. 2 · Room
  3. 3 · You
When, and how many of you
Which room, and anything we should know
Where we should reply

How it works: the request goes to this site's booking desk, not to the hotel. We check availability and the current rate with the hotel's reservations team or a booking partner and answer by email. We never ask for card details here, and a request is not a booking.

If your request turns into a confirmed stay, the hotel or the booking partner that completes it pays us a commission. You pay nothing extra for asking. How we earn.

Received. Our desk now checks the dates with the hotel's reservations team or a booking partner and replies by email, usually within one business day. Nothing is booked or charged until you say yes to an offer.
