Broadbeach on foot, from the lobby
The case for leaving the car at home is strongest here: almost everything a weekend needs is within a short walk, and the tram does the rest.

Broadbeach is small — 1.4 square kilometres, according to Wikipedia — and The Star Gold Coast sits on its western edge, on an island in the canal system beside the Nerang River. That makes the resort feel tucked away, but the walks out are short. We have kept to distances and times that the resort, the airport or public references publish, and added Google Maps routes on our how to get there page.
Walk 1: to the beach
The resort puts the beach about 300 metres away. Cross from the island towards the Gold Coast Highway and keep heading east; the beach runs the whole length of the suburb. Early morning is the time for it, before the day warms up — and before you go back for breakfast at Nineteen, which opens at 7am.
Walk 2: the footbridge to the Convention Centre
The Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre is about ten minutes away over a footbridge, says the resort. It is the walk you will do if you park there when the resort car park is full, and it brings you out opposite Broadbeach North tram stop. Outside the Centre stands a terrazzo seal sculpture from Lennons Broadbeach Hotel, the Gold Coast's first large hotel, demolished in 1987 (Wikipedia, secondary).
Walk 3: shops and food
Pacific Fair sits across from Broadbeach South tram stop, and the resort's leasing page lists it, Oracle Boulevard's dining strip and the beach as walking distance from the Residences towers. The Oasis shopping centre is the other nearby mall, also named by Dorsett as an alternative place to park.
Walk 4: to the tram
From Broadbeach North the G:link runs north to Surfers Paradise and on to Helensvale, and since 9 August 2026 south past Broadbeach South to Burleigh Heads (Wikipedia, secondary). The resort lists trams every 7.5 minutes on weekdays and every 10 minutes at weekends between 7am and 7pm.
- Morning Beach walk, then breakfast.
- Midday Tram one stop to Broadbeach South for Pacific Fair, or north to Surfers Paradise, about 4.3 km away.
- Afternoon Back for the Isoletto Pool Club until 4pm.
- Evening Dinner in the resort — no walk at all.
Walking at night? The resort's own advice for anything beyond the precinct is to ask the concierge, who also books tours and transfers.
